FRBC Boulder Bird Walk at Waneka Lake/Greenlee Preserve with Jamie SimoMarch 9, 2019 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pmWaneka Lake Park, 1600 Caria Dr, Lafayette, CO 80026, USA
Join us on Saturday, March 9th for FRBC-Boulder’s 2nd Saturday bird walk at Waneka Lake and Greenlee Preserve.
Situated in Lafayette, CO, soon to become the first National Audubon Society-designated "Bird City" in Colorado, Waneka Lake and the nearby Greenlee Wildlife Preserve is the most popular outdoor recreation area in this suburban community. An easy, 1.2 mile trail loops around Waneka Lake, a man-made reservoir, offering great views of the mountains to the west. We'll look for waterfowl and early spring migrants as we explore this 147 acre park.
We will meet at the FRBC-Boulder store (5360 Arapahoe Ave., Ste. E Boulder, CO 80303) at 7:30am for our Birder’s Breakfast (featuring Birds & Beans “bird-friendly” certified coffee) and then carpool to Waneka Lake Park. We will return around 12pm. Please call the store (303.979.2475) to sign up.
Limit is 15 participants. Preference will fall to those meeting at the store but any open spots can go to folks wishing to meet at the site. Call to let us know if you wish to be put on the off-site wait list.
Be sure to dress in layers for the weather and bring binoculars, water, snacks or lunch, hat, and sunscreen.
