Denver Botanic Gardens - Chatfield Farms with Bird Expert Chuck Aid: The Gardens at Chatfield sport an impressive mix of habitat types -- and as such is one of the best places to birdwatch in the Greater Denver area. From orioles, vireos, warblers, and hawks, Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms never disappoints!
Hudson Gardens with FRBC's own Jennifer O'Keefe: From Belted Kingfishers to Mountain Bluebirds and Bald Eagles to Hooded Mergansers, Hudson Gardens, located along the South Platte River, always produces great views of great birds!

Join us on Saturday, May 11th for FRBC-Boulder’s 2nd Saturday bird walk along the Bobolink Trail near Baseline Reservoir.
A flat, easy walk along Boulder Creek, Bobolink Trail and the nearby South Boulder Creek Trail offer the potential for wildflower viewing, spring warblers, or even sightings of the eponymous Bobolink itself.
We will meet at the FRBC-Boulder store (5360 Arapahoe Ave., Ste. E Boulder, CO 80303) at 7:30am for our Birder’s Breakfast (featuring Birds & Beans “bird-friendly” certified coffee) and then carpool the short drive to the East Boulder Community Center where we'll access the trail. We will return by 12pm.
Please call the store (303.979.2475) to sign up. Limit is 15 participants. Preference will fall to those meeting at the store but any open spots can go to folks wishing to meet at the site.
Be sure to dress in layers for the weather and bring binoculars, water, snacks or lunch, hat, bug spray, and sunscreen.

Our 16th Annual Open House and Expo is coming up on Saturday, May 11th to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day!
A full day of family fun and events will take place at the Sagewood II Shopping Center from 9AM till 5PM. All during the day local artists and craftsmen will have their wares available at an outdoor art and crafts fair.
In addition, local park rangers, division of wildlife officials, and the Audubon Society of Greater Denver will host educational booths. Together they will offer interesting and intriguing nature programs for both adults and children to enjoy. Great gift ideas abound for Mothers and Father’s Day. From 9AM until 4PM you can bid on great prizes during our silent auction, including Rockies and Broncos tickets, United simulator, and more!
The raptor conservation group HawkQuest will be a featured attraction from 11AM to 5PM as they present a live Bald Eagle, Great Horned Owl, American Kestrel, and Harris's Hawk for display. The Butterfly Pavilion’s “Rosie” the tarantula & live honey bees will also be in attendance!
At 3PM the 16th annual “Rubber Duck Drawing” will take place as we draw from 100 sponsored rubber duckies. All rubber duck sponsors will receive discount coupons at local restaurants. Individuals can sponsor a duck for a small contribution to the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund. Valuable prizes will be given to the sponsors of the winning ducks. Live bluegrass music bands will play while the drawing takes place.

Woodpeckers are charismatic and vitally important ecosystem engineers and keystone species. Join FRBC Boulder employee and Denver Audubon Master Birder Jamie Simo on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30pm to learn about what makes a bird a woodpecker, which woodpeckers call the Front Range home, and how to identify them.
Jamie will also share photos and footage taken in Spring 2016 from her Northern Flicker nestbox camera, offering a sneak peek into the life of Colorado's largest woodpecker!
